Editorial Policy

How we research, audit, and write calculations and guides at InvestKit.

1. Core Principles

InvestKit was founded to simplify personal finance planning for Indian retail investors. To achieve this, our editorial policy revolves around three core tenets: **Accuracy**, **Accessibility**, and **Neutrality**.

We write in jargon-free, clear language so beginners can learn about complex topics like Mutual Fund Fees, FIRE (Financial Independence), and Systematic Investment Plans without feel overwhelmed.

2. Fact-Checking & Mathematical Audits

Unlike standard news websites, the financial guides on InvestKit are tied to interactive mathematical calculators. Thus, our fact-checking process is twofold:

  • Formula Verification: Every calculator is built using standard financial formulas (such as monthly compounding loops, future value equations, and reverse-SIP math). These systems are rigorously audited by our Editor-in-Chief, Hitesh Yadav, to ensure correctness.
  • Source Benchmarking: Any assumptions on our calculators (such as standard inflation parameters or historical stock returns) are benchmarked against official data sources: inflation benchmarks are cross-checked with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and index returns are checked with NSE India records.

3. Citations & Sourcing Policy

We cite official regulatory and administrative bodies whenever referencing economic benchmarks in India:

  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI): For inflation targets, monetary policy rates, and sovereign interest sheets.
  • Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI): For investment advisory codes, mutual fund categorization rules, and asset limits.
  • Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI): For monthly mutual fund inflows, industry statistics, and commission declarations.
  • National Stock Exchange of India (NSE): For historical equity indexCAGR calculations and volatility indexes.

4. Editorial Independence & Neutrality

Some of our pages contain affiliate slots (e.g., standard stockbroker account openings). However, our editorial reviews and calculator tools remain completely independent. We do not alter calculations, recommend specific mutual funds, or inflate expected returns to satisfy any partner relationship. If a regular fund's expense ratio drag is massive, our calculator will show the exact losses, regardless of affiliate partnerships.

If you detect a mathematical error or a factual discrepancy, please review our Corrections Policy to file an audit report.
